Financial Secretary, Sharon Mountford

|
Sharon Palmer Mountford was born and raised in Glendale, California. She holds a BA degree in Zoology from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and an MA from UCLA, where she was involved in electron microscopic research on the structure of the retina. With the advent of children, she found that a family schedule and research were mutually incompatible. She kept the children and dropped the research. During child-rearing years, she taught math and science in the Los Angeles USD in Gifted Programs, chaired the San Fernando Valley Gifted Children's Association and became Administrator of the California Association for the Gifted. When husband Lou retired, he became an avid choral singer and Sharon became the full-time volunteer Administrator for the Angeles Chorale. She continues to be active with the Chorale and is on the Board of the San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus, which began life as a program of the Angeles Chorale. At church she has chaired the Family Life Committee for as long as she can remember, is currently Secretary for the Church Council and Financial Secretary. In her spare time she enjoys working with her hands -- fabric arts, mosaics, woodworking, gardening, baking -- and she spends an inordinate amount of time on genealogy. She and son Brian have started a new website at www.crostix.com, where you will find interactive crostic puzzles, like the Double Crostics that used to run on the inside back cover of the Saturday Review of Literature. Try your hand at one or two and let her know how you like them.
