Haiti Reliefhaiti volunteers pix
A very successful drive to build kits was held Saturday, February 20th at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 5619 Lindley Avenue, Tarzana, CA 91356. Pictures of the many volunteers who helped construct more than a thousand kits can be seen here. We are collecting materials for kit building on an ongoing basis. The earthquake in Chile is a reminder that the need for our help is ever present. Please continue to support this ministry by bringing donations to the church office.

Lenten Studies-As we enter the time of Lent, a period of self-reflection and examination, Pastor Willie will conduct a study to be announced soon. Please call the office for information.

Palm Sunday Brunch-An important part of our church life is the food and fellowship we enjoy each Palm Sunday. The Family Life Committee is responsible for this wonderful gathering. We hope you will join us Sunday, March 28th.

Sunday, March 21, 2010:

Journey Class 401 - See class description below

CLASS 101
This basic introduction to our church family is designed to clearly explain who and what our church is. You’ll learn about our beliefs on salvation, our statements of purpose, and our church’s strategy and structure. You’ll also hear about the history of our church, how the five biblical purposes are necessary to fulfilling God’s calling for your life, and the plans for the future of Saddleback. At the end of class, you’ll be given the opportunity to decide whether to complete the membership process by filling out and signing the membership covenant.

CLASS 201
Do you want to become more like Jesus? Class 201 will help you develop the habits you need to jump-start your spiritual growth. It will give you an overview of the three basic spiritual habits every Christian needs in order to grow: daily time with God (prayer and Bible study), giving, and fellowship.

Pastor teaching classCLASS 301
Did you know that God created you with special gifts intended for his purposes? God didn’t design ministry for just a few – He made each one of us a minister. At Class 301, you’ll learn how God can use your Spiritual Gifts, your Heart, your Abilities, your Personality, and your Experiences (S.H.A.P.E.) to minister to the needs of others.

CLASS 401
In Class 401 you’ll discover your life mission and how you can be a part of God’s plan to reach out to the world. This class will help you:

Develop a personal perspective of the Gospel message
Develop your personal story of how God has worked in your life
Build confidence in sharing your story
Understand the P.E.A.C.E. Plan and how you can begin to be a part of it.

Classes will be starting or repeating in the next few months:
CLASS 101 - Discovering Church Membership
CLASS 201 - Discovering Spiritual Maturity
CLASS 301 - Discovering My Ministry
CLASS 401 - Discovering Your Life Mission

Journey 101 to 401 courses are designed to help members grow in God's purposes for their lives. Each of the four classes focuses on a different purpose. Attending these classes just might be the most important time you spend at 1st UMC of Canoga Park all year long.
God wants you to take your next step spiritually. That could mean getting baptized, committing to digging into the Bible each day, discovering how God wants to use you to help others, or just learning more about God’s plan for your life. Saddleback’s classes are all about those next steps.
